We are spending time in Heidelberg, staying at houses of various friends. We found a two bedroom apartment to rent from next week on, close to where we lived in the early 90s with the kids. This week Sheila is in Manchester, I am dealing with medical stuff. The weather is beautiful and sunny during the day but quite chilly at night.
We have arrived in Germany and are spending the night in Wiesbaden. In front of our hotel balcony is a plane tree with over 100 parakeets roosting and a plaza with some jazz musicians playing very nicely. Sheila is convinced that the parakeets try to join the music, unfortunately I can’t post a video. The sound is absolutely amazing.
We celebrated Andrea’s birthday with a nice brunch on the boat and then came into Snug Cove on Bowen Island. After lots of rain yesterday, today was nice and sunny again. This afternoon, Andrea took the ferry back to Vancouver.
We spent the day in Port Graves and hiked to Lost Lake in the afternoon (4km one way, and we found the lake). Today was still sunny, but the forecast for tomorrow is rain. Some friends we went sailing with in Tonga in 2002 are also anchored here and we had a nice chat on the way back.
We came into Howe Sound this morning, and first stopped at Plumber Cove on Keats Island. Sheila and Andrea went on a long walk on Keats and then we all went into Gibsons for a late lunch (wonderful seafood). In the evening we came into Port Graves on Gambier Island.
We came to Nanaimo this morning and enjoyed a nice lunch at the Dinghy Dock Pub. Sheila and Andrea went for a walk on Newcastle Island while I did some boat work. The weather is again hot and sunny.
